IoT Survey #1 - Who is interested in IoT - Preliminary Results

A number of you have graciously supported me in completing my first survey of IoT knowledge and usage. Over 45 people responded to the survey so far. What follows is the preliminary results of that survey. Whilst not highly scientific the survey does provide some interesting results. I will update this blog article as I get more results in. But initially the charts look as follows...

Over 55% of respondents in the survey indicated that they understood what IoT was.

More than 76% said that IoT was going to be an important part of their companies IT strategy over the next 5 years.

More than 70% said it was likely that their company would undertake an IoT project in the next 5 years

The hot topic of interest in terms of IoT was Business Models (50%) followed by IoT in the home and general industry trends.

Again whilst not entirely scientific this survey does indicate to me that the Internet of Things continues to be a hot topic and a topic of interest to the general public, that it is has a strong part to play in peoples IT strategies and that being a new disruptive technology people are interested to understand what new business models will come out of the IoT space.
